Subject:        Grant-in-aid Scheme of Scholarships to Students from Non-Hindi Speaking States for Post-Matric Studies in Hindi – Implementation of the Scheme during 2005 –06.

 Sir, 

I am directed to state that it has been decided to continue the Scheme of Scholarships to Students from Non-Hindi Speaking States for Post-Matric Studies in Hindi as a Grant-in-aid scheme during 2005-06.  As in the past, this year also 2,500 scholarships will be awarded. A statement showing the distribution of the scholarships to the various States/Union Territories for 2005-06 is given at Annexure – I.  The major highlights of the scheme are as under :- 

(i)                  Scholarships are awarded to only those students whose mother tongue is not Hindi and who are studying in Non-Hindi Speaking States.

(ii)                The rates of scholarship under the scheme are as under :

 These scholarships are offered only to those students who secure 60% or more marks in the qualifying examinations.  Further, these scholarships should be awarded to only those students whose mother tongue is not Hindi and who are studying in non-Hindi speaking states. 

            It is informed that from 2004-2005, fresh scholarships are to be awarded with the enhanced rates as announced on 19.03.2004 and the scholarships awarded until 2003-2004 will be renewed in accordance with the enhanced rates of scholarships, which will be applicable from 2004-2005 only. A copy of revised scheme is also enclosed for information and strict implementation.  

            All non-Hindi speaking State Governments/Union Territory Administrations are requested to announce the revised scheme for the current financial year 2005-2006 in their States/Union Territories through a  press advertisement, news item, Departmental Circular/notice and wherever possible through Radio and Television. 

            All States/UTs are requested to take necessary action for implementing the Hindi Scheme with the revised provisions w.e.f. 2004-05 and send their demand  under the scheme for 2005-06 as per  statement in Annexure II and the  statement of accounts of the earlier  grants as per Annexure III
