During the year 4,848 books were added to the Regional Language Library, the Central Hindi Library, Central Sanskrit Library and Indian Classics Library, Tulsi Sadan, Bhawalpur House, New Delhi. These libraries issued 27,324 books for home reading.
Under the scheme of Computerisation of Catalogue of Central Secretariat Library's holdings, the test programme in respect of 800 entries in three sequences viz. author, title and classification, have been successfully experimented.
Under the Literature Survey Scheme initiated in the 'month, of May, 1979, four backgrounders on the educational topics, viz. (i) Aims of Education; (ii) Content of Education; (iii) Elementary Education, and (iv) Adult Education, have been brought out.
This is a flew scheme under which it is proposed to give financial assistance to voluntary organisations: universities, including deemed universities/libraries, museums, etc. for cata- loguing, editing, preservation, publication, etc. of rare manuscripts. The main objective of this scheme is to preserve the rich cultural heritage of India which is available in the form of manuscripts and is in danger of deterioration, because of lack of measures for proper preservation, study and research, etc.. The scheme has been put in operation from 1979-80 on a modest scale.
