APPENDIX G QUESTION OF ADMISSION OF STUDENTS WITH ENGINEERING AND AGRICULTURE AS ELECTIVES IN THE HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOLS TO THE DEGREE COURSES IN ENGINEERING AND AGRICULTURE

In the reorganised courses for Secondary education Technical subjects, such as, Engineering, Agriculture etc., have been offered as elective subjects. The question arises whether the students who have taken either Engineering or Agriculture will be eligible for admission to the degree courses in Engineering, Agriculture or Veterinary Science. A rule that is in force in the university is that for admission for Engineering courses a candidate should have passed the Intermediate examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optionals and for Agriculture, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optionals. If these conditions are not relaxed, the students in the Higher Secondary Multipurpose schools will stand excluded from getting admission in the Engineering or Agricultural courses as the case may be. These courses have already been introduced in the Higher Secondary schools. It is, therefore, necessary to make the position very clear to the students who have offered these courses. The matter may be reviewed by the Central Advisory Board of Education.
