CENTRAL ASSISTANCE FOR
 INTRODUCTION OF CRAFT IN HIGH
 SCHOOLS
 

It has been definitely accepted that Craft has to be one of the Core Subjects and if this has to be introduced and worked in full it is essential that Central aid should be forthcoming. At present Central assistance is available only for the introduction of Craft in Middle Schools.

Comments by Ministry of Education

Under one of the sub-scheme, for the reconstruction of Secondary Education, Central assistance is being provided for the introduction of Craft in Middle Schools @ Rs. 3,000/- (Non-recurring for equip- ment), Rs. 4,000/- (recurring) for two additional teachers and Rs. 500/(recurring) for contingencies. To High Schools also under another sub-scheme, a grant of Rs. 15,000/- per School (non-recurring) is being made available for improving the teaching of Government Science, Social Studies and Crafts-Subjects of special importance. Thus the assistance includes provision for equipment and appliances for Crafts. The schemes are being continued during the Second-Five-Year-Plan.
