APPENDIX H : ESTABLISHMENT OF PARITY OF STANDARD IN SCHOOLS IN THE DIFFERENT STATES
In January 1954, the Ministry of' Education, Government of India, circulated to all the States a schedule, of the system of school classes in the various States prevailing in 1953-54. This schedule shows that different standards with different names are followed in the school courses in the various States. Great difficulty is therefore experienced in assessing the standard of a certificate brought from one State to another thereby causing unnecessary delay and hardship in granting admission to schools.
It will be opportune to try to avoid this difficulty at this stage when the. States are considering the question of implementing the recommendations of the Secondary Education Commission.
It will avoid all sorts of confusion and hardship if one common nomenclature is adopted by all States for the different stages in the school course and a common minimum age limit is also fixed for admission into the lowest class and a maximum age limit for retention in the highest class.
