APPENDIX S(C)-- REPORT ON THE WORK OF REHABILITATION OF STUDENTS AND TEACHERS DISPLACED FROM PAKISTAN (PLACED BEFORE THE TWENTY FIRST MEETING)

1. In the memorandum submitted in the previous meeting it was stated that the allocation of funds was being made to the State Governments in accordance with the estimates submitted by them to enable them to make stipends to displaced students and grants to schools and colleges started for displaced persons. The following grants have since been made to 61 disrupted institutions in various States:

2. It is proposed to continue financial assistance to displaced students during the next financial year, i.e., 1954-55. The figures for the year 1952-53 regarding amounts spent on financial assistance to displaced persons in different States and the number of students benefitted will be found at Annexure 'A'.

3. New schools for displaced persons.-In the Punjab six disrupted institutions have been revived; in Pepsu two and in Delhi three. In Bombay, local bodies have started two new schools and privately managed bodies, six.

4. The following State Governments have spent the amounts mentioned against their names on refugee educational institutions:
