APPENDIX A(n)- REPORT ON THE WORK OF THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF INDIA
The main activity of the National Archives during the year 1951 was to house the mass of records belonging to the defunct British Residencies and Political Agencies in India and to acquire micro-film copies of documents of historical interest to India from abroad. Some important Farmans and Sanads were acquired through the, agencies of the Regional Records Survey Committees. As regards publication, one volume of Calendar of Persian Correspondence was published and another sent to the press. One volume of Fort William-India House Corres- pondence was prepared for the press. A volume on Sanskrit Documents in the Department was, published by the Ganganath Jha Research Institute.
During the year the Vacuum Fumigatorium and the Air-cleaning Unit were set in operation.
A special short course of training on preservation of records was arranged for the employees of the Ministries of the, Government and offices administered by them. A pamphlet on preservation of records was prepared and circulated to all the Ministries etc. It explains in simple language the procedure to maintain and preserve current records.
