APPENDIX D(b)- REPORT OF THE CONFERENCE OF PROFESSORS OF PHILOSOPHY-HELD AT NEW DELHI IN SEPTEMBER 1951

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation had undertaken an enquiry into the teaching of Philosophy in the various countries which are members of that Organisation and forwarded a questionnaire on the subject. The Government of India took advantage of this opportunity to review generally the position with regard to the teaching of Philosophy in India and to forward considered suggestions to United Nations Educational Social and Cultural Organisation. For this purpose the Government of India convened a Conference of Professors of Philosophy which was held in New Delhi from the 21st to 23rd September, 1951. The Conference surveyed the present position of the study of Philosophy in the different Universities. A copy of the report* of the Conference is appended for the information of the Board, and for any views that it may like to express on it.
