(g) A number of Board Middle School TEachers, Sub-Inspectors of schools and even some High School teachers have received short courses of training on basic lines lasting for a period of two weeks to three months. Regular 6 weeks refresher courses in each quarter of the year at each of the basic training schools have been planned from 1950-51. Periodical educational camps for superior educational officers in order to give them an idea of Basic education have been held at Bikram and have proved eminently useful.

GENERAL REMARKS-With 6 new Basic training schools added in 1949-50, the total number of basic training institutions was raised from 13 to 19. As an emergency measure, to meet the urgent demand for expension, successful trainees continued to be sent out to the schools to practise teaching under supervised conditions after attendence of at least one year's priliminary course at the training school. Those are attend a further final course at the training school to complete the balance of the two years' course after they have successfully served as teachers for at least one year. The plan of having 16 more such basic training schools during the 1950-51 and 1951-52 as under the first 5 years' Post War Development Plans, will have to be kept in abeyance owing to financial stringency. But 30 out of the 55 old Elementary training schools admitting only 20 middle passed men, for one year's course were sanctioned to be expanded during 1949-50 for admission of 50 for a two years' course for men of the minimum of middle pass qualification and had features of community life and productive activities with educational possibility added to make of them junior basic training schools, 9 more such junior basic training schools will be added during 1950-51. So with 19 senior and 30 junior basic training schools, the potential out-turn of basic teachers at 50 each from each school is 2,450 annually, which will, from 1950-51 be raised to 2,900. The number of training schools for training out primary school teachers specifically reserved for women was in 1949-50. Two more junior basic training schools specially reserved for women are being established in 1950-51 with an annual recruitment of 50 each. Two annual outturn of teachers from these is 60, which along with the 2,450 from the senior and junior and basic training schools brings the annual supply of basic and primary school teachers to 2,510, to be raised from 1950-51 to 3,060.
