VIEWS OF THE INTER-UNIVERSITY
 BOARD IN REGARD TO THE DATES OF
 THEIR ANNUAL MEETINGS
 

At the Sixteenth meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education a reference was made with regard to the date of receipt of views of the Inter-University Board. The Inter-University had stated that their meeting was usually held towards the end of December and every endeavour was made to communicate the resolutions of the Board to the appropriate bodies soon after the meeting. However if the meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education was held early in January, it might be difficult to send the views of the Inter- University Board in time to be placed before the Central Advisory Board of Education. The Board considered this reply of the Inter- University Board and recommended that the Inter-University Board may be requested to change the time of their meeting so that their views may be sent to the Government of India by 30th of November each year. Attention of the Inter-University Board was drawn to this recom- mendation of Central Advisory Board of Education. In reply it is stated that the Inter-University Board cannot meet very much earlier than the second half of December in any year as the material for the business of the Board can only be obtained some months after the Universities begin to function each year and it is not convenient for the members of that Board to meet in the middle of a term. They however reported that if the Central Advisory Board

of Education could meet in the middle of January, it would be possible for them to send their views on matters referred to them before the meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education.

In this connection it is stated for the information of the Board that the dates for the proposed meeting of the Board were fixed with a view to meeting the request of the Inter-University Board.
