CHANGES IN THE STANDING
 COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD
 

There are five Standing Committees of the Board as given below:-

1. Basic Education Committee.

2. Secondary Education Committee.

3. Further Education Committee.

4. General Purposes Committee,

5. Women's Education Committee.

At the last meeting of the Board it was felt that the functioning of the Committees was not satisfactory. The alternative are : (i) The Committees may meet twice a year; or (ii) more than one day may be assigned for the meeting before the Board's meeting. It may also be considered whether all the existing five Committees should continue or they should be amalgamated into one or two Committees. In this con- nextion it may be pointed out that during the meetings of the Standing Committees, the Basic Education Committee and Secondary Education Committee hold Joint Meetings and so do the Further Education Com- mittee and General Purposes Committee.

For the last three years there has been no special item for the Women's Education Committee to consider.

The Board is requested to consider the question of reorganisation of the Standing Committees.
