APPENDIX U- CONSTITUTION OF STANDING COMMITTEES OF THE CENTRAL ADVISORY BOARD OF EDUCATION
The Board at its last meeting considered the constitution of the five Standing Committees and recommended that there should be two Standing Committees of the Board-Basic and Secondary Education Committee and Further Education and General Purposes Committee. Each Committee should consist of not more than 25 members and should, if necessary, meet twice a year. The tenure of these Committees should be co-terminus with that of the Board.
The Government of India have considered this recommendation of the Board and feel that instead of two Standing Committees, as recom- mended by the Board, there should be three Standing Committees, viz. Basic and Secondary Education Committee, Higher Education Committee and General Purposes Committee. If there are two Committees, one for Higher Education and the other for General Education Purposes, instead of one, the burden of work will be less. Each Committee should consist of 15 members and meet, if necessary, twice a year.
The proposal is placed before the Board for approval.basis.
