APPENDIX W ALL-INDIA ORGANISATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SERVICE
All-India organisations (a) interested in education generally, and (b) concerned primarily with social service.
The Board at their sixth meeting held in 1941 decided that in future information should be collected not only from Provincial Governments but also from voluntary agencies With a recognised all- India status which might be in a position to supply useful data, or advice in regard to specific points. The Board also felt Chat it would be of material assistance in the discharge of their function as a clearing house of information with regard to educational developments in the country as a whole if more detailed reports with regard to important matters like 'basic' or adult education could be obtained from the responsible authorities. In consultation with the provincial Directors of Public Instruction, two lists, showing agencies of an All-India character, which are-
(a) interested in education generally; and
(b) concerned primarily with social service,
have been prepared and are submitted to the Board. The Board may consider whether all the institutions mentioned in the lists deserve all-India character and as such should in future, be, addressed with regard to the supply of information on educational matters. Henceforward, information collected from such of the institutions mentioned in the lists an are approved by the Board will be examined by the Board's office, and important developments brought to the notice of the Board. The lists will also be kept up-to-date by periodical reference to the authorities concerned.
