EXPENDITURE ON EDUCATION AND TRAINING BY OTHER DEPARTMENTS
Other departments incur expenditure on education under three heads viz. formal education, informal education and training (statement IV). Departments of Medical Health, Agriculture, Forestry and Environment, Welfare, Labour, Tribal Development etc. spend huge amounts on formal education in their respective areas. Over years the contribution of these Ministries/Departments to total education system has ranged between 10 to 15 per cent (Table 7). These expenditures are basically meant for higher and professional education and thus help in creating an army of skilled and professional manpower.
