2.1.2 It may be seen from the above table that the Central State Governments account for the bulk of the funding of Education in India. The share of the private

sector is quite small and that of local bodies almost negligible.
2. 2. 1 Government funds are provided for Education both under Plan and Non-Plan. Plan provision as a percentage of total provision for Education in the various States has been rather small. During the first two years of the VII Plan it was only of the order of 12.55% as may be seen from the figures in the Table below:
