8.3 The enrolment of SCs increased from 173.51 lakhs in classes I-V; 54.11 lakhs in classes VI-VIII; and 26.76 lakhs in classes IX and above in 1992-93 to 175.80 lakhs, 55.80 lakhs and 28.08 lakhs respectively in 1993-94. The STs enrolment increased from 83.64 lakhs in classes I-V, 20.29 lakhs in classes VI-VIII; and 10.00 lakhs classes IX and above in 1992-93 to 85.95 lakhs, 21.94 lakhs and 9.97 lakhs respectively in 1993-94.
