PREFACE
Education has been the main instrument in developing values in human beings, particularly at School level. School age is most sensitive, for the cultivation of intrinsic values in students. The CBSE has, tried to cover up this aspect through curriculum development, syllabus designing and Organisation of co-scholastic activities. With globalisation and liberalisation in the present information age, the need for co-terminality of economic and educational developments and the need to attend to the development of value system through education has increased manifold.
Sensing the need for effective moral value based development of a wide spectrum of heterogenous society, and the challenge of bringing out quality from within, leading to realisation of the self, the CBSE felt the need to conduct this seminar-cum-workshop on value education. it has been the effort of the CBSE to assimilate different' patterns practised by the schools, realign the common factors & aspects and bring out with common consensus a programme of implementation.
We, are thankful to Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan for accepting the offer for joining us in this venture. I am thankful to Shri H.R. Sharma, Director (Academic) for designing-and managing the meet and to Mrs. Sugandh Sharma, Education Officer (Commerce) for bringing out this report,
It will be appreciable, if the schools in CBSE family use this material for developing their institutional programmes on Value Education. We shall be thankful to have further suggestions for improvement from educationists, educational administrators and the teaching community,
B.P. Khandelwal Chairman
