FOREWORD
The Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) produces audio and video programmes for primary schools and for teacher education. The programmes for children cover areas of mathematics, language and environmental sciences. The programmes supported the curriculum, and the presentation is innovative, and provides sufficient scope for creative teaching and learning.
The teacher education programmes cover pedagogy, mathematics, language and environmental sciences. The programmes are specifically designed for teachers to upgrade their skills in content transaction. The programme broadly aim to provide experiences, motivate, encourage imagination, demonstrate evidence, build knowledge, attitudes and skills in all areas of the curriculum. These programmes should be discussed, evaluated and alternative approaches developed.
To support the Special Orientation of Primary Teacher (SOPT), the CIET has developed an ETV package of 40 video programmes on a modular mode to meet the training needs of the DIETs and other teacher training institutions. These programmes have been designed in consultation with experts of NCERT/DIETs teachers and content experts for effective transaction of the print materials developed specially for the SOPT. The video programmes are integrated and form an essential component in the training manual of the Special Orientation of Primary Teachers and syllabus of Elementary Teacher Education Curriculum.
On the national network, the video programmes produced by CIET and six SIETs located in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Orissa and Uttar Pradesh are telecast from Monday to Friday as per the timings given below:
10.15 AM to 11.00 AM Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, haryana,
Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan,Chandigarh,
Himachal Pradesh and Andaman and
Nicobar Islands.
10.15 AM to 11.00 AM Andhra Pradesh and Orissa
12.15 PM to 1.00 PM Gujarat and Maharashtra

On Saturdays the ETV programmes are telecast for the benefit of teachers from 12.15 to 1.00 PM. The teacher educators may record the programmes and add on to the video library.
This document provides guidelines to teacher educators and resource persons and suggest activities for utilisation of the ETV package in the teacher training programmes.
