Assistance for Promotion of Hindi to Voluntary Organisations including Dakshin Bharat
Hindi Prachar Sabha and publications and purchase of books.
1. Objectives
To provide financial assistance to Voluntary Organisations, who are engaged in the
Promotion of Hindi specially in the Non-Hindi speaking States.
2. Eligibility
Registered Voluntary Agencies which are in existence atleast for the last three year.
3. Assistance
- 75% of approved expenditure to voluntary Hindi Organisations
for Promotion of Hindi.
- Rs.50,000 or 60% of approved expenditure for constructing of
buildings etc.
- 80% of the approved expenditure for Publication of
manuscripts in Hindi.
- 100% for descriptive catalogue of rare manuscript
4. Purpose of Grants:
To run classes for teaching of Hindi, courses for Hindi Shorthand and Typewriting and
running libraries, etc. Training of teachers, publication of Hindi books/journals,
construction of building , preparation and publication of teaching material conducting
examinations, prizes etc.

Scheme of Publications and purchase of books in
Modern Indian Languages and other Promotional activities for the promotion of Indian
Languages (other than Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu and Sindhi).
1. Objectives
Promotion of Modern Indian Languages through publication and purchase of books and through
organising seminars, workshops, short term conferences.
2. Eligibility
Registered Voluntary Organisations/ trusts, individuals, authors translators or those who
intend to publish the books holding the copyright thereof (excluding commercial
publishers).
3. Assistance
80% of the total approved expenditure for the publications and 100% for descriptive
catalogue and of rare manuscripts of adhoc assistance for selected items ranging from 50%
to 75% of approved expenditure.
4. Purpose of Grants
Promotion of Modern Indian Languages and English(other than Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu and
Sindhi).
5. Special Features
Publications which are conducive to the promotion of Indian languages shall qualify for
consideration under scheme viz. Books of references like encyclopaedia, book of knowledge
like anthologies , descriptive catalogue, etc., original writing (excluding fiction, drama
and poetry, Ph.D thesis , etc.)

Scheme of publications and purchase of books in English language and
related activities for the promotion of English languages.
1. Objectives
Promotion of English language through publication and purchase of books and also by
organising seminars, conferences, periodicals, etc.
2. Eligibility
Registered Voluntary Organisations/ trusts, individuals, authors, translators or those who
intend to publish a book excluding commercial publishers.
3. Assistance
80% of the total approved expenditure for the publication and 100% for the descriptive
catalogue and adhoc non-recurring assistance for selected items ranging from 50% to 75% of
approved expenditure.
4. Purpose of Grants
Promotion of English Language

1. Objectives
To popularise Sanskrit by setting up new institutions, pathashalas, running Sanskrit
teaching classes, running and strengthening Sanskrit libraries etc., and any other
activity which may be found conducive to the enrichment , propagation and development of
Sanskrit.
2. Eligibility
Voluntary organisations/institutions/ individuals engaged in the field are eligible.
3. Assistance
Financial Assistance upto 75% of the total expenditure

Scheme of Assistance to Voluntary Organisations working in the field of
Classical Languages including Arabic and Persian
1. Objectives
To encourage traditional institutions like Madrasas and Maktabs by giving financial
assistance to introduce Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Hindi and English in their
curriculum.
2. Eligibility
Voluntary organisations/societies/ trusts, which are registered under the relevant Central
or a State Government Acts or Wakf Boards and which have been in existence for three
years.
3. Assistance
100% financial assistance for salary and specified teaching/learning material.
4. Purpose of Grants
To appoint qualified teachers of Science, Mathematics, Social Studies and Languages, to
assist in establishing book banks and to strengthen libraries in Madrasas for these
subjects, to provide Science kits, Mathematics kits, essential equipments, etc.
