As you are aware. UNESCO has declared Delhi as the World Book Capital for the year 2003-04 and the National Book Trust. India (NBT) has been designated as the nodal agency for the celebrations. Year long activities have been planned to celebrate this declaration. "These include a series of book fairs and exhibitions in India.

The schedule of book fairs planned during the year is as follows: 

1 Rajkot Book Fair 6 to 14 October 2003
2 Nalburi Book Fair October end to
November beginning 2003
3 Children's Book & Activity Fair (West) Swaranjayanti Park, Rohini 29 October to 2 November 2003
4 Children's Book & Activity Fair (East)
Anand Vihar, Opp. Sports Stadium
(Near Petrol Pump)
5 to 9 November 2003
5 Children's Book & Activity Fair (North) Janakpuri, C-4. GNH Park/Vikaspuri 12 to 16 November 2003 
6 Children's Book & Activity Fair (South) Saket. Adjoining Modi Hospital 19 to-23 November 2003 
7 Ludhiuna Book Fair November end to 
December beginning 2003
8 One book fair in the South December 2003
9 Allahabad Book Fair January 2004


While information folders, together with the application forms and the terms and conditions of the respective book fairs are being prepared and. shall be sent to you shortly, details of the Rajkot Book Fair are given below: 

  • Venue Race Course Ground, Rajkot. 

  • Duration 6 to 14 October 2003 

  • Timings 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily

  • Rental        Stand (1m)    Rs.1500/-
              Stand(3m x 3m)    Rs.7000/-

Books----big and small-on humanities and technology for old and young, to entice and excite, in English. Hindi. Gujarati, Marathi and Urdu-to please one and all--shall be displayed and sold under one roof for the citizens of Rajkot and the neighbouring areas.

  • Octonorm system will he issued for stands/stalls.

  • Applications for multiple stands/combination of stands and stalls will also not he entertained.

  • Participants selling books in regional languages only shall he entitled to a discount of
    50% in the rental of one stand/stall.

  • Books etc.. to be displayed in the stall should be insured.

  • For hooking of stands/stalls please send in your application on your letterhead, together with a crossed bank draft towards rental in favour of National Book Trust, India, New Delhi. 

  • Last-date for receipt of applications is: 15 September 2003.
