ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

                                    
                                   The Ministry of Human Resource Development functions under the overall charge of the Human Resource Development Minister who is assisted by two Ministers of State, one each for the two Departments, namely, the Department of School Education and Literacy and the Department of Higher Education.  Each Department is headed by a Secretary to the Government of India.  The Secretary, Department of Higher Education is assisted by an Additional Secretary, 4 Joint Secretaries, 1 Economic Advisor and 1 Deputy Director General (Statistics).  In addition, there is one Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser, common to both of the Departments.  The Departments are organized into   Bureaux, Divisions, Branches, Desks, Sections and Units.  Each Bureau is under the charge of a Joint Secretary assisted by Divisional Heads at the level of Director/Deputy Secretary/Deputy Education Advisors.  At present, work of the Department is divided into eight Bureaux as follows:
