Scheme of Financial  Assistance for  Strengthening Education in Human Values

 

EDUCATION FOR WOMEN' EQUALITY

1. Scheme of Assistance to Voluntary Agencies under Mahila Samakhya

Mahila Samakhya is a women's empowerment project which not only aims at service delivery but also seeks to bring about a change in women's perception about themselves and that of society in regard to women's traditional roles. It endeavours to create an environment for women to seek knowledge and information in order to make informed choices and create circumstances in which women can learn at their own pace and rhythm. The centrality of education in the struggle to achieve equality is an important focus of Mahila Samakhya.

1. Object

  1. To evolve a modality of planning involving government institutions and voluntary agencies reaching out to the women in villages in a continuous dialogue so that the educative principle is not subordinated to the desire for immediate results.
  2. To adopt an area intensive approach to integrate the existing efforts to provide formal and non-formal schooling, adult education upgradation of educational qualifications through condensed courses and vocational training.

2. Eligibility
Educational institutions, registered societies, public trusts and non-profit making companies which are working outside the Project Districts of Mahila Samakhya would be eligible for assistance under the Scheme.

3. Purpose of Grants
100% assistance for:-

  1. Taking up well-designed fields projects for women's empowerment and education;
  2. Developments of learning material, instruction/learning aids, and other aspects of technical resource development;
  3. Training;
  4. Creation of educational facilities for girls and women's education by taking up experimental/innovative programmes;
  5. Evaluation and research;
  6. Activities for dissemination of the outcome of experimental/innovative programmes and their adoption, including visits to experimental innovative projects, publications, documentation , etc;

UNESCO DIVISION

Scheme of financial assistance by the Indian National Commission for co-operation with UNESCO (INCUU) , Department of Education.

The Government of India has been a number of the United Nations' Education’s Scientific & Cultural organisation (UNESCO) , a specialized agency of the United Nations, since its inception in 1946.

1. Objectives
The Indian National Commission for Co-operation with UNESCO, set up by the Government of India in the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, offers limited financial assistance for conducting studies, projects, seminars/symposia, workshops/study courses, summer schools/ camps, conferences than annual/regular one, display and circulation of exhibitions, preparation and printing of reports , celebration of UNESCO weeks, lecture programmes, etc. in the field of International understanding, human rights, research and teaching on the problems of peace, study of culture with special emphasis on cultural contents with other countries etc.

2. Eligibility
Non -governmental organisation affiliated to the Commission as 'Institutional Members';

UNESCO Clubs and Associated Schools recognized under the Commission's programme of education for international understanding; and

Other important non-governmental organisation which may have significant projects even though they are not affiliated to the Commission. Applications of Organisations registered with UNESCO body can be submitted to INCUU directly. All others are required to route their applications through State Governments/UTs.

3. Pattern of assistance
Grant to an individual organisation during any financial year will not exceed Rs. 50,000 ordinarily. In exceptional cases, wherever a programme is sponsored by the Department of Education, the limit may be raised to cover the entire cost of the programme/project upto a maximum of Rs. 75,000/- and

The organisation which received a grant during one financial year will not be given any further grant till the accounts of the earlier grant has been settled.

4. Purpose of Grant
To help spread the aims and objectives of UNESCO in its areas of competence viz. education, culture, social/natural science and communications.
